Fox Urine Granules
Rabbit Repellent

The prolific cottontail rabbit (Sylvilagus floridanus) is one of the target animals for Shake-Away’s #1 selling product, Fox Urine Granules. This product, formerly known as Shake-Away Small Critter Granules, takes advantage of the Predator-Prey relationship and the prey animals' genetically programmed instinct of fear to provide our customers with a non-toxic, organic method to significantly reduce and very often eliminate pest browsing problems.

Through our patented technology, Shake-Away offers the only EPA-registered predator urine-based products in the repellent industry and we work hard to optimize our source animals' diets to maximize the repellency in our source urines.

The Predator

The red fox is the most common, land-based predator of cottontail rabbits throughout its range. Rabbits avoid foxes' “core” areas when setting up their patterns to feed and raise their young. Foxes' “core areas” are where these cagey predators spend the bulk of their time and, as you would expect, these areas contain an increased predator odor presence.

The Product

Shake-Away provides an incredibly easy way to apply time-released, urine-impregnated granules in a fashion that simulates this “core” area. These granules are composed of a porous, swellable, inorganic mineral that is impervious to weather, and rainfall in particular. By applying the product as directed--twice a week for the first 2 weeks and twice a month thereafter for maintenance--the Fox Urine Granule product alters rabbit patterns and the effect is maintained for as long as the customer chooses to continue their maintenance.

The Difference between Shake-Away and Other Products

Over time, rabbits and other prey animals often get used to the myriad of foul odor- and taste-based products on the market today.  But all prey animals, and rabbits in particular, never overcome their instinct of fear as it pertains to the perception of the presence of their primary predators.

The best way to understand the concept is to visualize the natural setting of both the rabbit and the fox. A red fox pair establishes a den to raise young and to provide shelter for the group. Fox odors accumulate in this area rather quickly and the prey animals within a radius of it either alter their patterns or are consumed. Cottontail rabbits, with their highly evolved sense of smell, alter their patterns in short order, and keep their distance from that particular area for as long as the fox family maintains that den location.

Shake-Away offers our customers multiple sizes of this easy-to-use organic repellent to provide the best value possible for a particular situation. Simply applying a perimeter of our no-mess granules as directed or simply applying to hotspots will provide our customers with the results they expect from a superior repellent product. Create your predator illusion today with Shake-Away Fox Granules!
